huntikUpper Deck Announces Huntik Trading Card Game Organized Play

Seeker Leagues & Store Championships at hobby shops pave the road for Regional, National Championships and more!

Hot on the heels of the release of the all-new Huntik TCG (Trading Card Game), Upper Deck is proud to announce its global Organized Play support for all levels. Whether players are into high-level tournament play or a fun and relaxed environment, Upper Deck will be providing tournaments and events that everyone can enjoy.

It all starts with Huntik's monthly hobby league program called the Seeker League. Seeker Leagues will be hosted in local hobby shops and will be the base of the grassroots Organized Play program. Seeker Leagues will emphasize participation over winning, and Seeker League support kits will include exclusive promos for both participation and prizes, in addition to other items, so players don't have to win in order to get exclusive cards.

The month of May will host Store Championships, and once again, two cool exclusive promo cards that aren't available anywhere else will be up for grabs, one of which will again be a participation card. Also, the winner of each Store Championship will automatically be seeded directly into Day 2 of his or her country's Huntik National Championship event. Regional Championships will be conducted in June and July. The top eight players from each Regional Championship will join the Store Championship winners and be seeded directly into Day 2 of their country's Huntik National Championship event. In addition, the winner of each Regional Championship will win a Nintendo Wii, the runner-up gets an iPod Nano, and the third and fourth place finishers will be awarded iPod Shuffles. These events will pave the way for the National Championship event for each country, to take place in July and August. Gen Con Indy will play host to the North American Continental Championship, and countries outside of North America will each run a two-day National Championship as well, with more great prizes and exclusive promos to be had!

There will also be a themed local-level Elite Event taking place in October, plus another championship series slated for the winter season and into early 2010. Details of these programs are still being worked out. And of course, Upper Deck's highly successful and popular Sneak Preview program will also be a part of the Huntik TCG for all booster set releases throughout 2009 and beyond. No matter what time of year it is, there will always be great events to play in for all Huntik fans.
