New Huntik Trading Card Game Gaining Popularity in Hobby and Retail Stores!

The availability of the new Huntik Trading Card Game in more than 1,500 7-11 stores throughout the U.S. will help expose the Huntik brand to a larger audience, attracting more fans and increasing overall Huntik sales for both hobby and retail stores.

“Huntik as a brand is already doing well worldwide, growing its fan base of the animated series and now offering another way for people to enjoy the property through the trading card game,” said Erika Conway, Upper Deck's brand manager for Huntik. “With placement in 7-11 stores, we expect the popularity of the Huntik TCG will continue to go up, which means better sales for everyone offering Huntik in their store.”

Launched on February 17th, the Huntik TCG has already attracted a following with gaming fans and the Sneak Preview tournaments drew thousands of players around the country. Upper Deck also just recently launched a complete Organized Play program for this exciting new game.

Magic, mystery, mythology and adventure come together in Huntik: Secrets & Seekers. In the animated series, young Lok Lambert and Dante Vale travel the globe with their group of amazing Seekers, exploring exotic locations from the pyramids of Egypt to the jungles of the Amazon, seeking to unlock the ancient secrets of each locale. Lok and his friends search for powerful spirit-warriors called Titans to use in battle against the evil Organization. Dante, Lok and the Seekers battle the Organization and its sinister mastermind, The Professor, for the fate of the world.

The Huntik TCG lets players direct their own Seekers and mighty Titans to complete missions by using amazing powers and engaging strategy. Plus, one in every three Huntik Trading Card Game card packs includes Huntik Codes that unlocks Titans and other great content on the Huntik website.

The Huntik Trading Card Game will be available in a two-player Starter Set and in nine-card booster packs. Each booster pack will include one foil card, and one in every three packs will feature a Huntik password that unlocks even more adventure. The 159-card booster set also includes Super and Ultra Rare cards. The two-player Starter Set offers a bonus DVD with a full Huntik episode and a trivia Huntik game; two themed decks, Foundation and Organization; a Seeker Training Guide; a game mat with quick start guide; and 21-card Mission pack.

Huntik is an Italian animated TV series created by Iginio Straffi of Rainbow S.p.A., as a co-production with Big Bocca Productions (an Irish entertainment production and licensing company owned by Richard McWilliam, CEO and owner of The Upper Deck Company, LLC and Rainbow S.p.A.).

Huntik made its debut at the MIPCOM show in Cannes, and premiered January 3, 2009 in the U.S. on The CW4Kids. Created and directed by legendary Italian animator Iginio Straffi (who also created The Winx Club and Monster Allergies), Huntik was awarded as best cartoon for entertainment and business opportunities at MIPJunior, a leading international exhibition dedicated to children's tv programmes.

Huntik TV series was broadcast in Italy on Rai 2 and in foreign channels including the The CW4Kids (United States), Disney XD -previously Jetix- (UK & Ireland), MTV3 (Finland), Rede Record (Brazil), Jetix / Disney XD (Netherlands), Childern Channel (Israel), RTL II (Germany), ZAZ (Mexico), Network Ten (Australia), TV Tokyo (Japan), South Africa, Singapore, Greece, Austria, Portugal and the Philippines.

Huntik trading card game, produced by Upper Deck Entertainment, was released in 2009 in Starter decks and booster packs. A line of Huntik action figures has also been released by Upper Deck.
