Santiago

Santiago (Sophie Casterwill’s Bodyguard)
First Appeared:
Huntik Episode 1

Attack 3
Defense 5

santiagoSantiago is Sophie’s bodyguard. He first appeared on Huntik Episode 1, he was right behind Sophie when she was at the rooftop with The Suits, but he never talked. He appeared only for 4 seconds, so most people didn’t even notice him sitting there.

Santiago has been Sophie Casterwill's bodyguard her whole life. His father was also the bodyguard of Sophie's mother. When Sophie was born, Santiago's father started training Santiago in the skills he would need to protect Sophie.

Santiago was eight when Sophie was born. That's when he became responsible for her safety. His father had other people watching, but Santiago took his duties very seriously, even as a young boy. He saved Sophie's life when she was a little girl when Sophie's house was on fire, and he took her to safety.

Santiago has always been quiet and alert, and that is what has kept Sophie safe all these years. Santiago is totally devoted to protecting Sophie; he trains for hours each day.

Santiago is very good at martial arts. Maybe not as good as Dante, as Dante Vale has more experience fighting than he does. For his age, Santiago is really good.

You'd be amazed at how quiet and still Santiago can be. Most people don't notice him at all. It's not like he turns invisible, but he can hide behind a lamp. As a little girl, for fun Sophie used to try to sneak away from Santiago, and everytime she thought she had gotton away, Santiago was always right there if Sophie fell or got lost.

Santiago's skill and speed mean he can stun an enemy minor hero without any cost to himself (Ninja Ambush). It's seen he steps out of the shadows to knock out a Suit with one hit. Santiago can handle two Suits at once without any trouble.

The name Santiago is Spanish, but you may be wondering how come he has all these ninja skills and weapons and clothes and stuff. Aren't ninjas from Japan? Oh, he doesn't talk much about it. He doesn't talk much at all. Santiago's family is from Madrid, Spain. Santiago studied under several martial artists from Japan, Korea and China, and they taught him their culture as part of his training. Santiago wouldn't call himself a ninja, by the way. Traditionally, ninjas are specially trained soldiers for war, and Santiago is a protector. Santiago has taken the special skills of the ninja - stealth and quickness - and uses them to keep Sophie safe. Santiago doesn't act unless he thinks Sophie is in danger.

In Episode 2, we saw Sebastian in conversation with LeBlanche and especially with Dante Vale. Santiago first didn’t like and trust Dante Vale, but things changed after he saw how Dante Vale protected Sophie Casterwill from the Suits during the battle in the library. It seems Santiago will be an active figure in the upcoming episodes of Huntik.

Santiago's DEF rating is higher than his ATK. He is better at defending than attacking.
